James Codyre Grey County had a small yard on Redjack's Road with a grader and a couple of trucks based there.The Butcher family of Nelson Creek were most of the staff as I recall?

Those were the days when experienced fellows took pride in doing a good job. Now we’ve got crooked contractors pulling the wool over clueless clerks, who try to be engineers. The new M’W north of Wgton is a prime example.

Was a great time and great people. Did a lot of water crossing work for them down Palmers road into Vic Hawkers property. As you went in you crossed from Inangahua back into Grey county. Great memories of some great workers. Kevin O'Regan

I worked in office from 1960 to end 1962….that’s when I had to type rate demands by hand, on a large carriages typewriter, five to a page, …Lot 2 ..DP 3. .. etc….Mrs Best came in for a fortnight to help…..very time consuming….we did Licences, Heavy Traffic, Cars, Dog Reg. Monthly Council meetings, the old gestener copier, those whew the days, Tom Teasdale had a phone from his workshop to the office, we spoke often, Ike Newton was the Engineer, Kevin Tinnelly in Office too, and dear old George Jamieson, County Clerk, was Mr Panckhurst….
Those were the days…..then off on my big OE….
