Ray Port: I remember when I was 11 my mum was fishing the Grey River near Omoto slip and I walked over to side creek and spotted a shoal making its way up and after landing it a fisheries inspector walked up and said nice catch but you not allowed to fish there but enjoy your day and dinner tonight....
Just stay to river next time..
Bet that wouldn't happen today.

I remember one day running over the Great Red Bridge near Ngahere with the boys over the river and it was gushing, then the jigger thing came along on the tracks and my brother grabbed me and we jumped a massive gap for our lives, Yeah big brothers, then we went back and said um hi Gran is tea ready?

Bob Laing: The photo was taken in the Orowaitie area. A small tributary upstream of the main road bridge I think.

Maye Dunn: I thought it was probably close to Westport Bob with the number of kids. So that is probably right.

Bob Laing Mother: used to whitebait the Totara and Mikonuhi in the Ross area. I would tag along. I was 4/5, in the early 1950s.

Jean Keenan: the 1960s for us.
