Date Created29th July 2019CommentsBede Brown: The late Matt Martin who was the first salesman for Guardian Cement owned a little moterised launch called the Huia in the 1960s she was tied out at anchor in the Westport lagoon like many others in those days. Ultimately she was beached over behind Organs Island on Charlie Martins farm edge where she rotted away. I wonder if this is the same boat.

Maye Dunn: More than likely I'd say.

Bede Brown: Maye Dunn as a young teenager he took me out on it many times chasing kahwai in the Buller River . I have a picture in my mind but its hazy long time ago.

Denis Grant: Definitely looks like Matt Martin to me. Marg and I worked at the cement works when he was there.

Jackie Bruning: I use to work for Matt Martin as secretary when he was shipping cement to Samoa. He came to St. Mary's high school looking for a shorthand typist.
