Rodney Burns Used to go there when we were living at Station Creek. Dad would be in the hotel and Mum and us kids were swimming in the hot pool with snow all around.

Dorothy Wills Looks the same as when we used to go there in 1960 a few years later after the children were born we used to go and swim in the hot pools

John Churchill My father was the roadman from the pub to the summit. I remember having a beer in the tin shed after the pub was burnt down

Michael Nottingham I was a Deer Culler on the Ada when one of our companions suggested we tramp out for a 21st party in Hanmer. The 4 of us assembled at the old Ada homestead and with rifles, filthy attire, beards etc, tramped through the Ada valley and Cannibal Gorge and up to the road eventually, the Maruia Hotel for a few beers before it closed for the night. In a day that was approx 30 miles, up and down and eventually trudging down the road to the Pub. Great party in Hanmer but caught A.W.O.L the next day with a deserved bollocking from the ranger........

Linda Skelton Ha ha those were the days. As a culler you would have been fit as a buck rat as the saying goes. If you wanted to go somewhere you just walked. I did the St James track a few years ago now with young grandchildren and took us about 4 or 5 days!

Joyce Pitura My dear dad was the grader driver for the pass

Linda Skelton Your Dad, Bill Baily, Peter McGrail, Jack Griffin, a big gap in my memory then Bruce Bartlett. Peter McGrail was married to Betty,sister of Tim White of Reefton and ran the Tearooms on the northern corner of the triangle. Some of the Grader drivers who worked out of Springs Junction or Rahu as it was known then. My husband Peter drove the grader on the other side from the engineers camp.

Myron Caldwell I thought of Betty White when I first saw this. We often gave her a lift from Reefton to springs junction in the work truck. Lovely young lady as I recall. Certainly prettier than Timothy. lol.

Lorraine Brian We lived there. About three years .

Lorraine Brian Garry's family owned the hotel when it burnt down and the built the hotel that is there today, Great memories and awesome photos we have meet so many amazing people , fabulous place.

Linda Skelton Many a night/to early morning spent there eh Lorraine? Dancing to the battle of new Orleans, playing pool, even a room to put the kids down for a sleep before we took them out in the freezing nights back over the Pass or down to Mum and Dads. Of course always had the spotlight should a deer pop out on the road.
