Craig Norman and they walked 50 miles to school and back,in bare feet and 8 ft of snow.

Chris Tones I would think the chimney is the give away on why the windows were open.

Niaouli Wolf i started school there in September 1953 and left in April 1961. Nearly all my primary schooling was there.

John Rosanowski Chris Tones Also in those times there was a strong belief in the healthiness of fresh air. (Obvious to us today.) Perhaps a carry-over from hatred of English Victorian smog and grime.
