I've seen a couple of photos with the flagpole beside the Twohills Commercial Hotel but never a flag on it. I wonder why it was built or for what occasions. Also I wonder when the Bank of NZ (on the right) was replaced or added onto to make the current two storey building.

i remember when Kapuni gas was discovered and there was a lot of talk about it .. and a lot of doom and gloom over the future of Dobson Mine.The newpapers were full of it and it would also on the radio..Dad would talk about it a lot with Mum.., and his mates.In the 1960s the Kapuni gas fields were opened, providing natural gas which was cleaner and cheaper than the locally produced coal gas variant, and the company stopped producing gas and became a supplier only.Dobson lost their biggest client.
