Both Mrs Glens and the Warrens shops were open when I lived in Taylorville . Mr Ross used to do home deliveries of groceries, and I remember riding with him sometimes. the delicious smell of the fresh bread loaves is still strong after all these years later. Mrs Glenn used to sell pie’s at Brunner Bulls home games. No pie warmers or microwaves in those days. Mr Warren would walk around the Taylorville domain on game day with a hat for donations. He also used to mow the domain preseason and we used to build huts with he hay
Rob Lunn
I don’t know how Mrs Glen made any money she was just so generous to all of kids in the district Dobson included
Leeanne Sneddon
Rob Lunn she sure was. She would give me one of her home made raspberry iceblocks made in a meat paste jar. They were the yummiest
Mike Waghorne
In the days when there still brisges from Beunner/Wallsend our fa.ily did all of our shopping there and had in delivered.
Tom Kilkelly
Mum shopped at Mrs Glenn’s shop no super markets then just the local shop and the fruity truck and the delicatessen truck and Charlie Fensom’s butcher truck them were the days

I loved going into the warrens shop. I am sure they use to sell ice blocks made in the paste jars for next to nothing. I loved going out the back as that was where I am sure the wheat and other things were kept in sacks. Mr Warren had a horse which he kept in the paddock next door.
Gavin Menzies
Biggest highlight of arriving in Taylorville was grandad (Bill Menzies Snr) taking us to Madge Glens shop for an ice block made using paste jars...was just raspberry cordial and a wooden stick but we loved them! We lived in Madges old house just along from the school before crossing the river to live in Dobson...special memories
Sheree Menzies
Gavin Menzies One of my favourite memories too. Loved those ice-blocks.
John White
Sheree Menzies Raspberry Ice Blocks are still the cure my girls use when Dad’s got a touch of man flu. That was how Aunty Madge fixed me and it stuck.
Jude Campbell
The best ice blocks ever! We would help Mr Ross deliver groceries on a Friday and get a free ice block
Daphne Coombs
I used to deliver the papers with Mrs Glen on a Saturday she drove her car and I put in the letter boxes she was very good to me was often out the back at her shop.

Rob Lunn I loved getting one of those ice blocks too for 3d. I loved the lollies at Warrens too. When Mr Warren delivered our groceries on Fridays there was usually a couple of lollies in the box for Patrick and I, being the youngest out of 8 kids. Dad used to be the St John’s man at the footy grounds on Sundays so I used to go too and play in the playground.
