Many years ago I was in Greymouth with my Aunty Ngarie, I told her that the man walking towards us was Dave McKenzie. Her jaw dropped as she gawked. Once he was gone by she said in a subdued voice, he is so small. Yes Aunty, heros come in all sizes.

Apparently the first international reports of the marathon were sent out from Boston saying it had been won by someone named Dave McKenzie from Greece, After all, where else would a runner with the letter G on his singlet come from?
