DescriptionThis station was much bigger than the one that followed. When it was demolished there was a huge bee’s nest in the walls and honeycomb and sticky honey went everywhere. At this time, I was living in the railway house on the other side of the road as my father was the local ganger. Riding on the ‘fairy queen’ jigger is my mother Patrica Forsyth (Sergison), my older sister Josephine, and our cousin Brian Vare visiting from Lyttelton. We went to Greymouth in carriages hauled by steam engines. I think that the family living in the smaller railway house on the town side of the Orwell Creek Bridge, at that time, were the Robb’s.

Note that Brian's haircut was the standard 'short back and sides' we received back then - usually finished off with a generous splash of bay rum!

Ahaura was one of the best places to visit our relies ... old Rod n Eedy Sheedy. Cuzzies young Rod, Kev n Cheryl. Loved going there.

Christine Brown lovely family, our family (Foster) lived at Matai, caught bus to school, then later on Rod wud take me to work in Greymouth as we worked at the same place.
