Colin J Wilson According to my book, Union Fleet by Ian Farquhar, there were three "Koranui's". this one is the first built in 1883 and owned by the Black Diamond Line, Wellington, (W.R.Williams) 1883-1885 and then by Union Steamship Company, 1885 - 1889, when she was wrecked at French Pass on 27/9/1889. So therefore this photograph is in the years 1883 to 1889.

Geoffrey King Wow that would figure Colin being as early as that as I said the Cobden quarry not in existence and if u look closely the wharf probably only goes as far as where the Richmond Hotel was the rest is rock embankment down to the Lagoon entrance
