DescriptionMy great grandmother Mary McKearney fell out of the horsedrawn gig crossing the rocky ford in the 1920's and broke her arm and this area was called Grannies Mistake for years. My mother remembered the sign still being there in the 30's and it was always mentioned whenever we as kids took a trip to the Coast. My view is it got changed when perhaps someone with an accent was telephoning and saying Greyneys instead of Grannies. If anyone knows anything different or a map stating this, I'd dearly love to know.

Diane Keenan Helen Hadland in fact the last time I drove through there ,about 6 months ago,I was surprised to see the sign with Greyneys Creck .Very confused.perhaps we can get it changed.

Helen Hadland Diane Keenan yes I looked into it a few years ago but they said I’d need to check the maps from back then. I rang again after the Chch earthquakes and they were still in the middle of sorting out mess there. Would love to follow it up and hoped someone would or could verify it for me as you have done.
