Date Created20th September 2019CommentsDoris Blanchard I love that Post Office building. Is it still there and if not why not? I don’t know why the Grey Main School was pulled down.
Don Hutton Earthquake risk after the Inangahua shake in 1968. The same thing happened to GTHS. Doris Blanchard
Don Hutton That Morris Oxford would date back a bit even to the 1950s.
Annie Swain Still only about 15 years old in 1970. Typical of cars today.
Karla Haussmann The town looked so much better in those days
Heather Gaulter Remember it then, loved it Andy Grigg Morris Oxford at front, then a dark dunger, then a 1956 Vauxhall velox like mine! Then EH Holden,EK Holden, HR Holden SW, Ford Thames Trader Van, VW Combi Van..Back in the day.....even a Mini!
Peter Westwood Andy Grigg the dark green van is an Atlas Major, built by Standard Motor Company.
Sue Abbott That’s how I remember Greymouth, so vibrant and such a great place
Laurie Anderson Great time to be living on the Coast wish I could wind the clock back
Shirley Barrow Lived in Greymouth and Cobden from 1974 until 1978. Loved it even more so when I lived in Taylorville, Stillwater and Ngahere from late 78 until 1987
Sonia Dando This is the year after I left Greymouth to Perth Australia
How I remember Greymouth
Peter Robertson There was plenty of space in front of the Post Office and every Friday the Gold Box was parked outside the P.O. with an organisation selling raffles or some produce. The Lions still have the Gold Box and it's still available. Just that we are now in a different age.The simple life has gone.We need the GB in the square?
Bruce Keddie The Morris Oxford could be the workshop"hack" we used at West Coast Motors to do odd jobs like getting parts from other garages for non Morris cars we could be working on.
Mary Moffitt If that cream 1968 Mini is an Austin 850, then it is my car. Can't believe it. Probably me and a sister in it. Trying to remember the number plate CW- something. Will have a photo somewhere.
Brian Gus Heveldt I think we had Heveldt’s Fruit Shop still in 1970 South of the Railway Line on the left.Great times in business in those days and met some great people who became and still are life time friends.Che Norris

I wonder if my order has arrived at Alf Harrisons yet. "It's just coming over the bar now Brian" was a favourite answer of his to your inquiry.
Bruce Knight
Brian McIntyre I remember that answer from Alf well!
Bruce Knight
As someone said above, “seems like yesterday”. I used to clean the windows and furniture at Beggs after school, from 1966 through 1969. At $4 a week I knew I had finally made it into the workforce! Yep- seems like yesterday....
Elleyna Rennie

There is a very slight chance I am driving the green car waiting for the red head on the crossing! It looks like the Morris Oxford we used at West Coast Motors to run errands around town.
