I used to enjoy looking at all the memorabilia in the bar at the Jacksons. In the late 70's it was owned by the same company/person that owned and did up the Heather Bell at Totara Flat. (was it an Elcock? am a bit hazy as it was long ago but I'd recognise the name- the owner was ChCh based but used to pop in every now and again. There was a manager)
Jillian Gardyne
Spent some time there, as a child, waiting in the car outside while Mum and Dad had a drink or two. Did enjoy the raspberry drink they sometimes bought out to us.
Malcolm Yorston

I first stopped at Jackson's Hotel about 1993 while cycle touring..! Had a pint of Montieths prior to heading to Kelly's Creek to camp the night.
Next day I rode my bike up the zig-zag and caught the Tranz Alpine at Arthur's Pass..
It was that beer at Jackson's which that hooked me on Montieths and, indirectly, lead me to settle on the Coast..!
Alan Dean
