Lyn Moe: Its Runanga, It could be to see Paddy Webb as this picture from Jack Floods book shows although I cant seem to match any hats with the other picture.

Ray Vincent: Its great to look at the history of our home, have debate and comment and the obvious stated often, without this site a lot of this would be just History. As long as we treat it for how its intended and dont get silly with debate.

Bill Johnsen: looks to be Runanga and Bourke's house in background ?..outside Miners hall....looks to be a runanga bowling club jacket in there ..perhaps..

April Jarden: Think your correct Robert Mathewson.Maye Dunn its outside Miners Hall in Runanga.To the right of the Shop you can see a house thats still looks the same now,next, that house was rebuilt by Clare Bourke and the Garage is on the corner.Ive seen that before and im sure it was political or Union meeting.

Bill Johnsen: Lyn Moe there is a photo in recollect Mo of Runanga Bowls men and a similar person in both photos...bowls jacket looks very similar with something white attached in same place to jacket..probably not but Laurence Pattinson killed 1934 in mine accident..same year as bowls photo taken...

Mark Marinan This photo has been posted before. George Millar, my great great grandfather is seated slightly left of centre with white hair, so it is most likely to be in Runanga

Mark Marinan George Millar died in 1939, the same day as Michael Joseph Savage, so the photo was probably taken in the 1930's. Kaye Marinan. Peter Campbell, Pauline Naylor, can you add anything about the photo?

Maye Dunn Mark Marinan we presume it is the political meeting when Semple and Webb visited Runanga in 1936.

Mark Marinan Maye Dunn l was told that George was a staunch socialist, so you are probably right.

Pauline Naylor I agree Mark that its George Millar. It's taken outside the Miners Hall with Mrs Pollocks shop in the background and Bourkes house in Mills St as well. Not sure what the occasion was though.

I’m guessing Grey Valley miners were unionised before 1913. I know Denniston miners had a union before 1890
