John Sweeney My mother Mary Sweeney started this as a tearooms in 1947 in the front room of our house. My father Jack Sweeney kept adding to it. My mother sold it in 1962 to Stephen Graham after my father died. Stephen had it as a restaurant and fed the workers who were building the THC hotel in the mid sixties.

Bob King We ate there when we were building Grahams Motels.....food got less and less after a while until the boys told him we would down tools and back to CHCH unless it got better.

John Sweeney
In the 1960s, after Stephen Graham bought from my mother, he provided meals for Neilsons crew that were building the hotel.Gave him a good start at catering.
