Anbarbara Duckett Dave Perry it faded away. Rex died a long while ago.

Dave Perry Anbarbara Duckett Yep I had a bit to do with that back then when they were in trouble. A very diverse operation and maybe got a bit too diversified. All grown out of deer recovery and the works at Hoki, and various plants in the north.

Anbarbara Duckett Dave Perry Rexs' ego was one of the biggest difficulties.

Dave Perry Anbarbara Duckett Yep understood. But where would we be without guys with steel balls. I was involved with a company who closely looked at taking it when they were on the verge of folding. Visited all the plants etc. and was impressed with what he had done except for the numbers, We stayed away in the end. From memory an Alan Dixon was running the chopper operation out of Hoki back then,

Anbarbara Duckett Dave Perry John Dixon? He facilitated so many pilots into flying and helicopters. He had the first Deer farm in the North Island, Tawa park farm. Allen and I spent some time there after it had passed to other hands. (An interesting story in its own right) Colin Tuck was another pilot. Still flying I think then his mining operation out of Greymouth. He opened up Greenland behind Ross. Allen and Jim Robinson and Clem Tinley (?). Quite a character.

Dave Perry Anbarbara Duckett Okay Yes John Dixon it was, the deer farm you are talking about was that just north of Taupo on the left side of the road heading towards Hamilton. If so I stayed there one night with a number cruncher I had with me. The big deer sale yards were also on that property and it backed onto NZForests land

Anbarbara Duckett Dave Perry yes. We went through Taumaranui to Ongarue to Waimea. It was like an island in a sea of forest. Mostly pine but native as well. Tawa the main native tree species. Tree Rata mostly all dead. There were some deer there but it had been so badly neglected and raided all the time not much was left. It changed hands and I think became a hunting/fishing lodge which it should always have been. Interesting country. Pureora Forest was just north of there.

Peter Detlaff Dad Keith detlaff was involved with rex up mount Greenland just looking through his stuff and a lot of books maps ect of mt greenland and rangitoto
