Stuart McMillan Maybe a lot of history there

Peter Rosanowski Our great-grandfather rocked up there in 1875 as part of the Julius Vogel immigration scheme. If my recollection is correct, our Granddad Roso was born there. The settlement failed for a number of reasons but Granddad went on to be 93 before a fall from his bike brought about his death prematurely. Although he spent most of his life in Palmerston North, he was a frequent visitor to us in Reefton. Always brought his accordion and never missed a trip to the Reefton WMC.

Peter Rosanowski I have walked out on the jetty at Jackson Bay and I experienced what was almost a spiritual feeling in doing so. That jetty might have saved the settlement had the Provincial Govt come up with the dosh when requested back then.
