Ann Knipe: I can remember going out to see that. It must have been in the 60's.

Geoffrey Bell: If it's the one I encountered then it would be 1967/8.

Myron Caldwell: The whole of Runanga turned out to see it.....modern media report.

Trish Rennie: You might need to ask Brian Piner....I know that Bazil got fed up with being called out to "minor" slips on the 17 mile so he dynamited it down and hubby tells me he did the same with the 12 mile...it stopped the slips!!! I would say this is late 50's early 60's

Maye Dunn: I'm wondering if it is the one that came down onto one of Dunn's trucks. My brother was driving. That would've been late 70's to 80's.

Ray Vincent: It was after i started work as i recall it made us travel to Westport the long way. My guess in early 70's?

Robyn Langridge: We think it was when Langridges had the contract in 1977, during the Queen's visit. It closed the road for a week- as took the road with it. No power to the Coast Road.

Maye Dunn: Robyn Langridge I think you're right. I had a feeling it was later than the 1960's.
