Morag Hamilton: After the 1929 Murchison earthquake, the people who lived in Corbyvale couldn't get out of the valley for 6 weeks, as access was blocked.

Maye Dunn Murchison: quake was 1929, Inangahua 1968.

Morag Hamilton: Sorry, you're quite right. I'll correct it.

Morag Hamilton: It was Digger Simonson who told me this story. He was staying with relatives while his mum had another baby. Big adventure for a little boy.

Myron Caldwell: Is that meant for Murchison earthquake? My parents started their honeymoon part on wagon and part on foot to get South around that era.

Robert Ray: Before 1929 the road used to go up the Rough and Tumble and come out at Glasseye Ck.
