Maye Dunn Yes it does Dave Perry. When I first saw the photo I wondered if it was actually Blackball. Maybe someone can throw some light on it.

Lyn Moe Looks high, I wonder if its at the Ngahere end above the bins. Heather Newby has a picture on here of the other end. It has steel boxes but this might just be a earlier photo.

Ceol Mhor NZ Maye Dunn this looks the same building to my pic, this pic being one side of the rope road, every thing outside down low and rock banks cut away. This pic has been taken at a much later date perhaps after it ceased operation as you can see no ropes attached to the wheel and some rope lying on ground.

Maye Dunn That makes a lot of sense. I think the photo is dated 1920's how does that fit..

Jim Staton: The Blackball coal bins were finished in 1909, and the railway handed over to NZR by the Public Works dept not long after ( for a couple of months the PWD carted coal on the line before officially handing over), the photo is of the Roa bins, being tested I would suggest, as they were built not long after the Blackball bins.

Peter Kerr: Ngahere bins of the Blackball Coal Co. Cleanlyness, lack of coal lying around and presence of the German cableway engineer shows the tramway is under test.
