Note all have no shoes times were hard

William John Vaile No doubt times were hard but at my country school (1950's) most kids would have been barefooted at playtime, lunchtime and most other times. Not to mention after school and at weekends. Choice not compulsion.

We never wore shoes unless we were going somewhere special even in the winter play bare foot all the time, can't walk to the letter box now, stand on a stone hop around now.

They only used to make us put them on to get on the bus and i think that was so we didn t lose one
