Geoffrey Bell What a great photo Heather Newby. I haven't seen that one before. It's a great conversation piece sorting out what's what.

Geoffrey Bell You can see both the road and rail bridges, the Railway Station and is that Badger Lane in the foreground that runs between Mackay Street and the Railway Line. What was the building that is shown under construction? It appears to be on 124 Mackay Street where the Cafe and Bar is now.

Geoffrey King Building under constriction looks to me to be Schaefs building with the dance hall upstairs was next to the Power Board buildings(dont know who owns / uses nowdays).. Did Greenhill have something to do withit...The bulding behind that is where the Norcasa was (cant recall the name of the building) Would have to be around the turn of the century era

Shirley O'Connor I guess the farthest right house is Alexander. Tce. A one stayed in Alexander Tce and attended High School. His pa lived in Country. Bernard Magee so Tom he was. Is there the walkway over the rail line. Left of shot seems to be Govt Office style. When was the over line walkway line erected. It went to Alexander Tce in 19 50s.

Kirsty Dittmer The building under construction could be regent theatre? It was built 1933 but maybe this photo is too early for it to be that?

Antony Merriman Kirsty Dittmer Waitaki House?

Kirsty Dittmer Antony could be, it's really weird tho. Waitaiki house was built after revingtons and around the same time as the old post office and also the building that was where the town square now is. It was all brick buildings going up to replace timber ones. So I think this is earlier. Maybe it is an old church. There used to be a few in town. There was a big one next to Albert mall.

Antony Merriman Thought waitaki was older, am looking at the building behind the one being built. Maybe post office? Which would make the one being built the workingmens club. That was established till 47, but maybe the building is older?

Kirsty Dittmer Should clarify waitaiki house was built after the timber version of revvies. Lol. Can't remember off the top of my head which brick one came first. There were a lot being built around the same time
