By: Cathleen (Rosina Fisher)26th Dec 2019 12:05PMYes 1972 Mum and Dad were different and we travelled over the pass to Christchurch arrived at night. Dad I hear a river and we camped the night. Waking up to what seemed like a freeway to us coming from the coast. It took us about 10 days camping out and every single car pulled us over for photos. Slow trip in a 100 year old gig from a farmer on the coast. It was originally green and Dad loving paint had to paint it red. Remember Dad slopping grease on the wheels. There was a guy back then In Greymouth is that turned the wheels and spokes for us. After snowflake we had a x racehorse called Kingsway star. The Gig I think ended up at shantytown. Dad would hitch kingsway star with a buggy up and down to the station at Ngahere. I was born 1968 on the coast side of the Bealey and was starting school Ngahere following year. All the boys Yukon, Chinook and Dawson and myself are all here in Australia. Yuke and Daws in Brisbane with their wives and kids, grandkids. Chook spends a lot of time in China and Europe and Gold Coast with me. He said he loves everyone too much so hasn’t settled down yet . And I’m on the coast in Oz as well. Great to hear from everyone this is a wonderful site I’ve just recently discovered it. Btw yes Dad Tom Fisher is living in our old batch Sutters creek he bought off Inky Hill he was great on the guitar and used to sing with us as well with Aunty Coleen and Mary Dads twin sisters. Berty Hill Inky’s Dad and Ma were wonderful people remember swinging from the vines back of the batch running around the farm, swimming across the river, mushroom and blackberry picking as you know Nana and Pop Dolly and Bowie from Nelson Creek raised the tribe of 16 there so Dad loves being close and we grew up there. Great life. If by chance any has a opportunity go to the Nelson Creek pub on the wall are photographs of Fishers as well as first cousins from the creek at school and Aunties Agg and Kath on the wall. Please go take photos of it Janice Hahn your Ma Aunty Cole and Mary in them as well. Be a shame and loss not to copy them before they are lost. Apologies if I’ve misspelled any names .
