DescriptionZK-AEK was owned by Air Travel New Zealand and piloted by Bert Mercer from 1935, delivering mail and supplies to remote areas of South Westland. In the rough geography ZK-AEK would utilise what ever landing facilities she could find including landing on beaches and sandbars.

Maye Dunn: Definitely parked on grass.

Brian McIntyre: I remember these flying in and out of Greymouth very early 1950s

Ken Tomlinson: If you look up on maps it marks Poriri beach where Gillespie's Beach camping site is.
