Dianne Bell Etta Sutherland is Geoff Bells auntie. His father's sister and she was 98 or 99 when she died. Geoff will confirm dates later

Mary Moffitt Dianne Bell I have worked it out. Ethel Alice Bell (Etta) married Ronald Manning Sutherland in 1940. Etta was born 24 December 1919. Ron was one of the five Sutherland brothers who were frequently in road-cycling races on the Coast. Ron's brother Ian Sutherland married Betty Nairn, my mother's sister.
I think we should be able to work out who the other young woman on the bike could be. She could be one of Ron's sisters - Morna Jesson or Shirley Day. They were both into cycle racing as well.

Mary Moffitt May I assume that Sutherland Was Etta's married name and that her maiden name was Bell?

Gavin Davy My Nana once told me she went from Reefton to Waiuta on the back of a motorbike when she was a teenager.

Heather Newby Gavin Davy dad went from greymouth to waiuta on the back of a motorbike.. About 1945..and they came off at a bridge on the way. He still had the scar on his nose years later
