We used to collect beer bottles and, putting them in a sack in our go cart, would wheel them down to the brewery. A penny a bottle !!

David Ferguson and myself looked at it in April 68 to rent as a base for Rahu contract. Even measured the windows for curtains. Then along came earthquake and ruined that idea as well a wonderful old house. Kevin O'Regan

No that was never me. Though Bill Rainbird and myself cleaned your fridge out when you and David left for Greymouth those ad days after Gordon was killed. One of yous had turned the main off as you made your hurried departure. If hadn't been for Bills help I would have been in trouble with the tummy. Fridge was walking towards the door. Think we went to town dump with it and washed out with buckets of water. Reinstalled it back at house wiped down with vanilla essence! Sad times then David moved to the sawmill and yous bought the house in Hokitika. Love Kevin

I recall as a kid riding with my grandfather on his bike to the brewery in the 1940,s to pick up spent hops in a sack to feed his pigs.My grandfather was Charles chandler and lived in lower Shiel street.
