Patricia Ellen Johnston That photo would of been taken from Lingards house, George Lingard worked on the Railway as a ganger..he was also a great artist, painting in oils and water colour.he did several paintings of the hotel and many other local scenes..I have a few and my sister has one just like this one that she got for her 21st from George. His son (Butch) was well known for his cartoon pics also. The pub burnt down 1975,

Geoffrey Bell Thanks for that, Seddonville it is then. That was my first thought as the family the photograph belongs to lived in Seddonville in it's hey-day.

Fred Gear I remember going there by rail on an excursion train just before the line was closed from Ngakawau. About 40-50 of us found our way to the pub looking for a beer. The publican coped OK.

Fred Gear Was the "New" blue one of course.

John Paget Been there before it was in the 1970/s i recall asking the publican in true east coast ignorance where he go the great coal he had on the fire. He pointed to the huge stack in the railway yard and said he would let me guess.

Allison Riding Looks a bit like Otira. The line runs past the pub and there is (well, there was) a railway or (or perhaps main roads) workshop opposite the pub on the other side of the rail lines.
