Bede Brown Reminds me of a story True or False. The hotel eventually was privately inhabited and at some point some undesirables of the two wheeled variety took up residence. Until eventually a large unexpected explosion blew part of the building up with the intention to encourage them to leave. The perpetrator or perpetrators were never located after a through investigation, but it was coincidental that the local legal representative at the time located in Granity was one of the few people ever sent home from a NZ Peace Keeping force ( Cyprus in this case) for allegedly telling a local bar operator how he would rearrange his premises with a stick off ???? during a dispute they had. Now whether this is factual or entirely due remains to be solved.

Karen Riley-Laws I remember my Nana giving me a fake beer one time. It looked real however think it was made of polystyrene.We have looked for the hotel when we go to Millerton but can never find it

Spent many a Sunday as a kid sitting in the car waiting on the old man to have his full. But in all fairness it was probly a day he looked forward to as well as us kids. Great place for fresh water crawlies.and a well deserved beer for him after a hard week

I went looking for that recently. I remember staying there when I was in the Army. We used it for accommodation while carrying out a live firing exercise on a nearby plateau. That, I guess, would have been mid to late 1970s.
