Ross Cocker My first trip onto the Franz Josef was in 1959 in a tour group like this one. We were all issued with hire boots with hobnails and the poles were broom handles with a leather wrist strap and a four-inch nail sticking about one and a half inches out the bottom
Linda Hughes I’m sure that’s a young Avis Warner’s in the front row with the jersey round her shoulders a few in from the right.

Arthur Dehn I remember when it was down a lot closer , when you had to walk along steps cut in the rock face on the right hand side....... Also you had to walk through the bush from the main road, tough walk!!!
