DescriptionThis postcard is one within an album of 300 or so postcards with postmarked date stamps spanning 1902 to 1920 mostly, but of course this one was not written on.... grrrh.

John Greaney Look down from chapel street. The big house was Collies on the corner of Chapel street and Alexander terrace.
Tony Kokshoorn The Town Hall is in the photo .Built 1905.There is no Revingtons in the photo so when we know Revi,s construction date we can date the photo.
Geoffrey King Isnt the old Revingtons in the picture? Definately after 1906 as the ilmer and Albion are in the picture 1905 /06 respectively

Great shot . The two storey house in the foreground is the former Rathburn house on the corner of Chapel St and Alexander Tce opposite the old Guerin home at 49 Chapel St that we are currently renovating . So many fantastic photos coming up on this site !!

Don Hutton There appears to be scaffolding around the Post Office building. When was it built?

Don Hutton The Geisekings building at the corner of Tainui St & Mawhera Quay now demolished had a date on the top I think. That could help to date the photo.
