Ann Beech This is my grand daughters family, through her paternal grandmother.
Sheila Haymackenzie I wonder, what is the name of J W Bannisters Maori wife?
Chris Scott Sheila Haymackenzie Hera BANNISTER née Te Koeti
is Scott thank-you for that. I see her daughter Hinepare Bannister married a "Mahuika," a very old Maori family on the West Coast. A name recorded in an early Europeans journal. About Maori who used the coast as a trading route.
Ray Vincent So tough in those days, such history.
Deborah Marley Lovely family...strong women I'm those days
Nina Townsend Unfortunately the family homestead burnt down a few years back & the fire took alot of the family history. Paintings that Bill's great great grandma painted crockery cutlery things that had been used for generations honestly the saddest fire I can recall witnessing not the actual fire the aftermath & devastation that was felt by bill & Ken Jack's sons.
Annette Martin He is related to mahuika family from south westland

War being absolute hell on earth, how lucky was he to be turned down because of flat feet, and how short sighted were the recruiters to turn him away!
