Carolyn Luck Yes it is Greymouth.
Owen Gibbens, he lives in a retirement village in Christchurch. Several of his staff who started off as apprentices still visit Owen.
My father Harry McMath and Grandfather Fred Congreve- were their Accountants- Congreve and Co.

Robin Gibbens Dad moved in around the time of the Greymouth centennial 1960 I believe . Spent my school holidays there in later years . Great memories

Bazza Morland Spent quite a lot of time in Owen's shop and McGlashens as a kid .

Ray Vincent Visited as a Kid, think my father worked there, if not certainly knew Owen.

Mary Moffitt Spent many hours there from 1948 every Saturday between bus arrival and music lessons and theory lessons and the bus home, until 1958. The milk bar next door was like a different world with its jukebox. I think buses left from this garage also. There was also Sequin's milk bar across the road, and the Opera House on the third side. Heaven for a kid.

Dad moved into the building in1960 and set up his panel shop the week of the 100 year centennial , l was 6 but remember it well . That photo is around 63/64 not long before he sold out to Eric Day and we moved to Christchurch in 65 . I absolutely hated it and they thought they may have to move back but then l found Speedway racing and as they say the rest is history . LOL ?and that’s another story

I wouldn't have been too far from you and your Dad Brian,we had to get out of the house an shop encase the shop went up,the old opera house was thrown out some heat.

My mate, Kevin Dey (Eric's bro) worked the pumps for long periods. Probably whetted his appetite for eventually going to Brown Walter's in an administrative role.

Owen Gibbens was a truly lovely man.
My Dad was Owen’s Accountant.
Owen and Dorrie were great friends of my Mum and Dad.
When they moved to Christchurch they lived very close to each other and spent a lot of time together.
Owen was the MC at our wedding.
