Des Kennedy Brett, and the one at the top could be the Chunns house? I'm just going by memory. Its well over 50 years since I left Greymouth.
Brett McLean You could be right Des, I lived in Ngarimu Street in the 60's, I know the Chunn's lived up around that area.
Glenn Tomlinson Yes it is. We lived next door, up the hill. The house was destroyed when the hill gave way.

James Codyre Muratai House in centre where NZR staff had a camp in the 50's.Frickleton Street in foreground. .St Columba Tennis courts were nearer Alexander Street.We lived in 108 Alexander St on the Ngarimu St corner.
Brett McLean James Codyre.....what year(s) did you live there on the corner, we lived 2 doors down in Ngarimu St. during the 60's.

Mary Moffitt Is that Shirley Brown to the right of the photo. She was a great player.
Joan Orchard Spent many hours in the 50s playing here. Was Joan Lambert from Westport. My combines partner was Stan Pollock and my doubles partner my mother Eva Lambert. Played a lot against Shirley Brown and Frank Ansley - he sure had long arms! Have a great scrapbook of tennis from the late 40s when my father Bill Lambert and my mother played.
Mary Moffitt Joan Orchard Exactly. Frank used to play at one end of the court against about four of us, and he could still win - with a smile.
Dyan Hansen Muritai House, formerly Rewa Hospital where mum was born in 1933. She eventually worked there as a cook when the Magee's were running it as a NZR boarding establishment.

Grey United’s tennis courts. Played on them a few times. Marist had a couple of courts at the Shakespeare street end, from memory.

I remember playing there. Shirley Brown was the coach, we used to have fish and chips before practice. I was never a great player but enjoyed the tea!!. Always wore short white dresses with frilly knickers at Saturday games!!!

Rewa became Muritai House and had a NZ Railways single mens camp in the 50'sWe lived a 108 Alexander Street on the corner with Ngarimu Street.St Columa's Tennis Club (the Doolies) was on the east end and Greymouth Club (Proddies) the west seperated by the Scout hall.Norm Preddie who was a bottle and scrap merchant is the left centre house.
