DescriptionOn Monday May 12th, The S.S.Ngahere was crossing the bar,leaving Greymouth with a full cargo of coal and timber,bound for Wellington.She touched the bottom and the south westerly wind and the rollers pinned the ship to the North Tiphead, right on the spot where the steamer Perth was lost a few years before.

Plus gathering coal off the beach.
