DescriptionThese photos taken back in late 1972 are from Big River.A number are taken from the the top of the mullock heap and poppet head and picture the winding house and bin from where a aerial ropeway took ore down to the battery on Big River.Also located adjacent to Big River were the cyanide tanks.

Neville Burt Yes a great place to visit. The road into Big River was pretty rugged back then and not sure what is like these days. Wasn't a lot of traffic back in 72 . I went back in 1979 and wasn't much better then. I have a few pics from that trip as well however will need to photograph these to post.

Arthur Bass Clint Eves, when at EF NZFS got the new hut built on the hill at Big River.

Neville Burt The hut was quite new when I was there mid 80's

Glenn Johnston On my first visit the hut on the hill had not been built and it was Rooney's cottage down below that shows in one of the pics that some people used. We stayed in a tent that trip.
