Glenn Johnston Looks to be the skid at the logging site in the bush rather than the mill skid? Looks like the loading bank where the lokeys bogey sets were loaded for the trip back to the mill. There will be a log hauler/loading winch out of picture shot.
Brian Gillooly People loved to talk about big or huge logs, lets face it they were really a darn nuisance. Fiddling them to length on the bush skids with a saw, before chain saws, quite often by yourself was pretty soul destroying.
Clare Pierson Brian Gillooly Dad had to work all weekend cutting logs to the size that could be milled at a sawmill in Hari Hari. Injured himself in the process.

Brian Gillooly oops sorry I hit the wrong button. Loading them stressed men and loading gear, then balance on the tram or truck had to be accurate.

Lynnette Beirne My late father Laurie Wickes worked in the mill around the Kotoku area before World War 2
After the war he worked in mills at Cameron’s , Ross, Kumara and lastly for Donaldsons at Ngahere
