Date Created30th March 2020CommentsDorothy Wills Is it still there looks a little dilapidated in the photo
Heather Newby I think it was replaced.. when I went over it 5 years ago it looked fairly new
Elinor Tibbles It was rebuilt by then forest service and DOC while we were in the hotel 1980 to 1994. Just can't remember the exact date. My mother in law Flo Tibbles and Bill Fisher the two oldest residents of Nelson Creek cut the ribbons.
Gary Rauhihi I remember walking over that when it looked like the photo.
Robyn Shand Nana and Grandad lived there Rose and Cyril Blackmore... my mum Margaret Shand nee Blackmore
Phyllis Aberhart I think it was rebuilt after 1984. My father died in 84 , I can remember walking over the old bridge then with planks missing, when I was staying there
Ricky Gilmore Remember crossing this bridge in the early 70's when we stayed at Nelson Creek Hotel. Was a sign on it saying 'use at your own risk'. Has since been replaced with a girlie new one. No offence ladies.
Denise Bradley Remember that well going up through the glow worm cave and cross the bridge over to the old gold digging trenches. There was a lagoon where the old gold dredge was further up on the other side if the creek.
Jock Allen going thru the cave over the swing bridge that bridge could really swing then swing off the rope and into the pool below for a swim best time ever
Andrew Mckenzie Jock Allen my parents used to have a Bach at Te Kinga. Sometimes we used to go to Nelson creek. My sister and me named the tunnel the ' tunnel of love' . I don't know why but we did. We still call it that 30years later lol
Jock Allen HA HA like it cheers
Elinor Tibbles The rebuild of the bridge was organised by my husband Allan, Pat Fisher and Ces Clarke. Ces was in forest service and we were in hotel then. Fundraising was from a poker machine the community bought and Allan and I looked after and ran for the community. One year we raised $30,000 for our community. Thanks to locals and holiday campers.
Annie Cooper That sure brings back memoriesTom Egan Remember going over the bridge when we were kids we,d came in from the kopara to go the Dental nurse while waiting for our turn in the chair some would go for a walk down there, there was tunnel there as well to walk through
Elinor Tibbles Tom Egan the glow worm tunnel Tom. A popular place for young couples.
Jim Webber I remember a similar bridge over the Crooked River before there was road access from Rotomanu to TeKinga. We used to have to drive around through Bell Hill, Nelson Creek to get into Greymouth.
Trevor Wylde Remeber going over bridge many times when at Hatters Terrace with Alan Tibbles late 40's early 50's. We would go across to get to river above bridge where we had our swimming sports
Diane Mary Rossman My gran opened the new swing bridge. Her name was florence tibbles
Felicity Pudds Somewhere I have the ribbon from the opening of the new one in the mid eighties
Elinor Tibbles Felicity Pudds have had confirmation the Nelson Creek bridge was opened in January 1984.
Phyllis Aberhart Elinor Tibbles I always thought it was like that in 84 when we used to visit my father in Nelson Creek
