Bryan McNabb When was the line de-electrified? there is little evidence today that it existed. How did that car (Holden Wagon) get up on the platform?

Ray Vincent To get to the platform (then) you drove across the tracks and up the right side of the platform. Straight across from where the photo was taken.
I worked on getting the diesels through the tunnel as the the old DC electric locos were not powerful enough. Think early 2000's?Like

Geoff Guenole You must be a different vintage to me. Those mug handles would allow most peoples legs to fit through.

John Paget The ones i remember had a round handle with a very small hole through them. Maybe their were two models. Are you related to the Guenole family from Whataroa.

Alex McDougall Back and forward to boarding school in Christchurch. They were more comfortable and faster than the train

Jude Wastney It must have been about 1964-65 that the railcars only went as far as Stillwater and we were taken to Westport by bus. Then into another bus to go home to Granity.
