Remember it well. Good to hear someone referring to “duck walks”. When we came to Christchurch and I used the term I had some weird looks believe me!

that house was built out of silver pine

Had a place in Westport with the rail line right at the back section. Used to line shopping trolleys with newspaper and then go fill them up with spilt coal lol
