Accidents like this were common, if you listen to Bill Lucas's interview he talks of what happened when things broke down around the Mill. Nobody asked for more money for working overtime or refused to help because it wasn't their area of expertise etc. Everybody just stuck to get the mill up and running again, simply because if they didn't there would be no work for you tomorrow. Very timely that I write this given the current state the world is in right now! Listen to the interview, you will appreciate what these people during the depression for each other, that lasted somewhat longer than a few months. Then soon after WW2.
