Fred Eggelton was my husband's grandfather he worked on the Otira tunnel and was heavily involved with West Coast Rugby.
Lived in Sturge St Cobden had 3 sons Nelson, Fred, and Doug and a daughter Doris

When I played schoolboy rugby Fred gave me a book signed by Barry John McBride Lions standoff who played in Greymouth
Fred was also a good gardener with an orchard in the rear yard
