DescriptionMiners Les Neilson, Ted Dunn, Ces McRoberts,Hank Hynes, Fank Taylor and Harry Lockington with the rediscovered 1894 map.

The Blackball Mine produced about 70,000 tonnes of coal in it`s 70 year operational life.It closed on Sept 23rd,1965.The map, which shows how Blackball was meant to grow over that period,was unveiled by retired mining engineer,Ces McRoberts.As younger man, Mr McRoberts fought water,silicate and acid as he worked to keep the mine`s pumps operational.They cleared more than 4 million litres of water a day from the workings.The map has been framed and hangs in the foyer of the hotel.PhotographerPeter ChristianDate of PhotoNov 19th,1998Map^[1]ContributorGary Tuck
