DescriptionPhotos of people and buildings come alive when we know who the people are and who lived in the houses. This is an attempt to name the occupants of these houses in the township of Kotuku. This photo, posted by Wayne Garraway, was taken in 1928.

Any additions and correction are welcomed.

The photo was taken looking south-west. The road heads to the school intersection and the tram heads right towards the railway station.

The buildings are numbered and named below.

1. Dwyer.

2. Boarding House. Lloyd, Liddicoat, Gillman, Peach. Post Office.

3. Cash, O’Leary.

4. Cummins, Girdler, Usher, McCarthy, Gibbens, Sullivan.

5. Garage.

6. Matheson, Dishington, Priest, Southorn, Rowse.
7. Jones, Walker, Kermeen.

8. Shop. Jenny and Mick Kiely (shop closed in 1943), J Gillman, Peter Molloy.

9. Cummins, Groufsky, J Nestor, Fiveash, Haggen, Wood.

10. Crimmins, McDonald, Radford, Aitken. (the corner of the house can just be seen.

11. Lucas, Butcher, Heslop, Reckelton, Orpwood. (The photo was taken by Bill Lucas outside his house).

12. Tram line crossing the road coming from the mill on the left and heading through the housing towards the Kotuku Railway Station.
