Date Created14th April 2020CommentsGlenn Johnston Do you know where in Hoki it was? It is interesting that there are features on the cottage built in wood made to make it look like it was built of quarried stone. This practise was common with some C19th commercial buildings on the West Coast but less so with cottages.

Dave Ogle The quoined corners are fairly common around wooden buildings in Dunedin, Not sure why they never really caught on over here. The crossed lattice or false beam across the front seems more practical than decorative. They did a lot of work between the first photo and the last. This is a really interesting post.

Janet Tillman Sorry, I do not know where it is. Maybe Elise and William Mills lived in it at a later time and did it up. Definitely a new verandah
