DescriptionThese 2 photographs were taken from the NZ Weekly News publication dated 10 June 1968. and featured photographs after the Inangahua earthquake. The first shows a view over Inangahua Junction township and pictures 2 large landslips. The building in the bottom left hand corner was the Post Office and the hotel is in the centre.

Date Created14th April 2020CommentsBrian Borgfeldt In the first photo looking up the road towards Reefton we lived in the second house on the left from 1948 to 51. They were mill houses. The building opposite the pub was the tearooms run by my Mum. On the opposite to that was the butchers shop.

Steven Shearer My mother and grandparents all lived there when it struck the town maybe my uncle Tony Southon too

Carol Stewart My grandparents (Clarks) owned the hotel late 1930s - 1950s and we lived next door so knew these buildings and paddocks very well. There was a tennis court, race track and cow yards and stables there then.

Colin Angus Heinz I remember catching a Road Services bus from Greymouth to Inangahua and waiting in that hotel to catch the Newman’s Bus from Westport to Nelson.

Lynnette Walford I remember it well ,was 68 I think,lived in Chch,we all ran out to the middle of the street...

Janette Schroeder Remember the earthquake vividly....my father was one of the 1st thru to the junction with the reefton doctor, we lived at the hydro and had a land rover which took them as far as they could go finishing the journey on foot

Geoffrey Bell The Telephone Exchange can be seen behind the Post Office and a person can be seen standing in front oif the green door. John Richards and I were flown in by helicopter the morning of the quake. We were the only ones in the exchange for at least a couple of days after so if the photo was taken within that time that person could be John or myself.
