Janet Sutton PaulAnthony Teens he was. Amazing how he coped with our huge class. Teachers these days dont have classes this big.
He used some of us girls who he placed near to his desk to read the school notices and read parts of the lesson that would require him to read. He was such a kind calm man. The POW camp was not kind to him.

Marilyn Paterson Mr. Tom Gilbert was my teacher way back in 1964, he was easily one of my favourites from primary school. A fine man. He used to practice his golf swing in class, and he read stories. He also had a record of major world events and I remember being fascinated by them,the Hindenburg crashing and burning up is one that has stuck in my mind.

Carolyn Murphy Marilyn Paterson he was one of my very few favourites too.

June Williams Marilyn Paterson I can still see him practising his golf swing at the front of the room.

Janet Sutton Mr Gilbert had a daughter who was an air hostess and she came in looking all glamorous and told us about her career. I have never forgotten that.

Marilyn Paterson Janet Sutton indeed he did,her name was Joan called Joannie. He also had a son called Thomas who was lost mountaineering in the southern Alps a very long time ago.

Janet Sutton Marilyn Paterson that's right it was Joan! She was beautiful...all dressed in her uniform and makeup. A glimpse of the big wide world for us Hoki kids.
So sorry to hear they lost their son. He and his wife Oogna(sorry spelt wrong) were such lovely people
