Heather Newby was he the one who stayed in Mrs Hackers Boarding house in Taylorville? and he had a car .Dad said he wouldnt give them a ride to work in his car so they tipped his car upside down in the parking lot at the mine and wouldn`t put it upright till he promised to give them a lift to work in his car every day.

Vern Pattinson Heather Newby he lived in the Dobson mine batches when I was a kid not sure where he lived before that and he had a we Austin or Morris car

Heather Newby Vern Pattinson yes,,i think thats him,, way back in 1942 onwards he boarded at Mrs hackers Boarding house along with Dad and Jack Hardy and some others

Florence Gunn Vern Pattinson he did live in the mine batches in Omapere street, Dobson in the '60's. Next to were I lived. Who was the Maori man who lived there as well. Loved to knit his bright jerseys. A great sound listening to a Maori and a Chinaman argue in very loud voices, I don't think. Probably didn't have a clue what the other was saying!

Cynthia McCaughan Heather Newby hmm a shame when people dont label the images as colourised. Its always a good idea to let others know this isnt an original image so in future researchers dont mistake a modern interpretation of colours.

Willie Long was born and brought up in Ahaura.when in his teens he went to China where he married and had 2 children.unfortunitely he lost them in the uprisings of the Chang Ki Sheck era and returned to NZ. Willie told me this when l worked with him at Dobson mine
