Florence Gunn I lived across the road from Johnny back in the 50 and 60's. He was very good to our family in tough times. Lots of memories.

Marie Grgic There was a double seats at the Runanga picture hall and one in the middle was always called the Johnny Mcphee seat. Our miners hall was the best. Everyone in Runanga, in the 50s called this seat his seat.

Crow Bay He ran the Runanga Medical society to didn't he moe? My on board computer has it that it later became what is now Southern Cross But I may be wrong. As I remember he sharpened scissors two lol. Great bloke the medical society paid us a bit if we had time off work through sickness or non work accident.

Elaine Barrow Hello. Our family lived opposite Johnny and we all knew him very well and had a lot to do with him over many years.

Florence Gunn Christine, Elaine Barrow and Florence Gunn are sisters and also live in Nelson. If you want to chat about Johnny over a cuppa sure we would be happy to.

Sandra Teasdale Johnny was a great friend and neighbour to my late mum and dad, George and Anne Teasdale. He was a real character and his nickname was Toffee apple due to his wooden leg and shiney head! I still have some of his lovely wood-turned bowls he made with his name stamped underneath. Nice people.

Anne McEnaney I remember going with dad up to Johnnys to have scissors and knives sharpened. always so cheeeful and happy. I also recall his double seat at the picture hall. nobody dared sit in that seat. Great days.

Kevin Waters Johnny was a very skilled man. Saw sharpening. Scissor sharpening. Wood turning. Hand French polishing of the turned bowls. I learnt a lot from him. Mushroom picking at Stewart’s in Barrytown. We went there in his VW adapted for hand control. Christmas rounds if Grey hospital ad Santa. And lots more
