Graham Messenger Not a bad spot for fishing - as the tide came in and eeling when the tide was out.
It was also the last chance unofficial bus stop if you missed your school bus on its way around Blaketown.

Brian Hope Spent hours around there . On the other side of the bridge was where we caught eels by hand when the tide was out.Caught herring from bridge .They don't make playgrounds like that anymore.

James Newby Not to mention the second part of the sewer pipe line in the background,also buried,

Elaine Hope Our Dad built a canoe and the boys would put it in the water where Messenger Park is now ,if the tide was in they pulled it over the sewer pipes or go under when the tide was in,then go up river to Kiata or under the bridge at the Brewery and into Coalcreek.No life jackets then.

Jim Cate hi Jim. Yes all well with us here in taupo. Have had a terrible summer but see the coast has had a boomer. Still manage to get down home whenever I can. Was there April last year and so happy to see how the town looked. Great.
