DescriptionMy cousin Barbara Whitnell sent over a box of old family documents. My grandfather George Albert Wheatley spent his entire railway career in Westport (except possibly for a short stint seconded to Blackball). Alaine Bright My dad was the same insofar that he worked for 40 years with NZR, I haven’t got any certificates but did get his employment records which showed other than a short stint in Granity and a period where he was in the Territorials during the war he spent all his time in Greymouth working his way up to being a guard and I think he was stationmaster for a short period before he retired in 1979.

Michael Nottingham Interesting for sure however to me is your cousin's surname 'Whitnell'. Not a common surname but one I won't forget during my early working career. As I had a colleague I worked with by the name of Bruce Whitnell at Crown Crystal Glass, Hornby, Christchurch during the 60's & 70's. I think is sister Julie was also employed there. I wonder if they are related to Barbara?
